These fans have got to be #MAGA supporters because nobody else could possibly be this angry about a young, black man trying to get his bag in America. Unless you’ve lived under a rock since 2013, you’re probably already well aware of the fact that Mr. Bell has consistently been #1, if not top two, in RBs in all of football. It’s not even debatable.
So, when you’re really, really good at your job, you ask for a raise. In the event that your boss doesn’t give you a raise, you quit, and go work somewhere else. It’s not rocket science here. However, because of the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, players can’t just “quit and go work somewhere else” whenever they feel like it.
The NFL calls this form of indentured servitude “franchise tagging.” Plus, the NFL has non-guaranteed contracts. Still, entitled fans feel like they own these players. Le’Veon, being the wise businessman that he is, said, “cool story Steelers, I get the NFL’s rules … just pay me, and I’ll come to practice, or y’all can try tagging me, and I’ll just quit, and play somewhere else next year.”
The Steelers called Le’Veon’s bet; and he wasn’t bluffing at all; and now, here we are.
