Travis Scott was recently announced to join Maroon 5 as part of the Super Bowl halftime show. Many people in the hip hop community have spoken against the NFL and the blackballing of Colin Kaepernick and disagree with Scott’s decision to perform. Meek Mill was one of the rappers that we previously reported on that disagrees with the Houston rappers’ decision.
Jay-Z has joined Meek Mill in trying to dissuade Travis Scott from taking part in the performance. Travis Scott is currently dating Kylie Jenner and have a daughter together so he more than likely is also trying to cater to her fan base as well.
As per Variety, Jay-Z reps has reached out to Travis Scott in hopes he will heed their advice to pull out from performing.
Two sources also tell Variety that Jay-Z — who has been highly critical of the NFL over its treatment of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick — is attempting to talk Scott out of performing, although reps either declined comment or could not immediately be reached.
Musically I don;t know how much the two acts fit with each other but it makes business sense as Scott’s Astroworld is one of this year’s most popular music release.
