Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has announced that his game check from this weekend will go towards funeral costs for a slain 7 year old. Jazmine Barnes was gunned down after a man, who police are still looking for, pulled up to the side of the car Barnes was in and started shooting.
Police there have said the shooting was “totally unprovoked” and could’ve been racially motivated.
This is a great move by not just an NFL player, but a superstar in the game. This murder wasn’t getting nearly enough attention, but with DeAndre Hopkins voicing his support for Barne’s family, maybe this will lead to more leads and hopefully an arrest of the brutal killer.
Police there have given out a detailed description of the killer as a “white, bearded man in his 40s who was driving a red, extended-cab pickup truck”.
If you are to come across a man that fits the description or a vehicle that does, dial 911 or call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
