Ozuna has been one of the best Latin artists in the game as in 2017, he released his “Odisea” album and followed that up with “Aura” in 2018. He has now come out saying that he was extorted by deceased singer Kevin Fret according to Billboard. Fret was murdered in Puerto Rico earlier this month while riding a motorcycle. An “intimate” video was released by Fret of him as a minor in a gay sex tape.
Ozuna’s management office Dimelo VI is filing a complaint regarding the extortion. They’re taking action also for the fact that videos of minors are state and federal offenses.
“Our attorney confirmed yesterday that urban artist Ozuna was extorted through an intimate video filmed when he was a minor. This video was edited with the objective of causing even more harm. At the time [of the extortion plot], we filed a complaint and all the legal measures are being taken, as sending and publishing videos of minors is a state and federal offense.”
Ozuna is also issuing an apology for mistakes he made as a minor.
“What happened was a mistake of the past. Like many young people, I made a mistake, fueled by ignorance” said Ozuna in a statement. “Today, I’m not only sorry for what happened, but I condemn it. That’s why I looked for help and I am certain everything will be cleared. Likewise, I’m following the process and am always willing to collaborate with authorities to prevent the evil that resulted from this big mistake. More importantly, I ask my family for forgiveness. They are my life’s priority and I will continue to fight for them always.”
Ozuna has rumored to be involved in Fret’s 2017 murder. The evidence pointing to Ozuna is over Fret threatening him over the video online in 2017. The murder took place in Puerto Rico. Ozuna’s attorney Antonio Sagardía is saying that police are not suspecting him of committing this crime though. Sagardía also confirmed that Ozuna paid Fret $50,000 to keep the video a secret.
