DeMarcus Cousins is in a great situation.
Playing with the Warriors, a chance to win a championship before heading into free agency, and doing it with four other All-Stars, it doesn’t get much better.
Things could’ve been much different for the 6’11 center out of Kentucky though.
After being traded from the Sacramento Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans last season, Cousins was paired with superstar Anthony Davis.
After an initial period of adjustment, the two big men played great together and looked like the second coming the Twin Towers a la Tim Duncan and David Robinson.
Things didn’t work out however as Cousins tore his Achilles and the Pelicans subsequently did not bring him back to the team this past summer.
Cousins of course went on to sign with the Warriors and has fully comeback from his Achilles injury.
That, is the moment Cousins says he knew that Anthony Davis wanted out, and Davis’ signing with Klutch Sports (who represents LeBron James) all but sealed Davis’ wanting to leave.
Speaking with Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes on his Posted Up Podcast, Cousins, when asked if he knew Davis would want out of NOLA once he wasn’t re-signed says,
“Duh!”
Cousins goes on to outline his thoughts on Davis’ trade request and how the Pelicans can only blame themselves for the firing of former GM Dell Demps.
Check out the video and Cousins response when asked about Davis and Dell Demps’ ‘master plan’.
