It looks like Kim Kardashian is serious about her law aspirations, just like her father.
Kim is continuing to work on criminal justice reform by helping get another inmate name Jeffrey Stringer, also referred to as “Jeffrey from Miami” on Twitter, released from prison, per VladTV.
Kim wrote, “We did it again! Had the best call w/this lovely family & my attorney @msbkb who just won release for their loved one Jeffrey in Miami – he served 22 years of life sentence for low level drug case. He served too much time but it gives me so much joy to fund this life saving work.”
Sources connected to the case tells TMZ that Jeffrey was convicted for drug possession when he was 25, but because he had 2 drug priors, he got life under the federal three-strikes law. His attorney, Brittany K. Barnett (who Kim credited for securing Jeffrey’s release) tells them they went to court and successfully argued he should be released under the First Step Act, which President Trump signed into law earlier this year. While Barnett did the lawyering, it appears Kim foot the bill.
This comes after Kim helped Alice Marie Johnson get clemency for a low-level, non-violent drug charge. Kardashian met with Donald Trump to secure Johnson’s release. After recently announcing that she’s interning at a law firm in San Francisco to become a lawyer, Kim spoke about her desire to get into criminal justice while speaking with her mother on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
She stated, “I told my dad years ago that I was really into criminal justice and he was like, ‘This will stress you out so much. You do not really want to take this on. But I think now, having gotten so deep in helping Alice, I’m really motivated to get to know the law more and fight for people that deserve a second chance, like her.”
Congrats to Jeffrey on his release and to Kim for helping him with his case.
