It’s a story we hear far too often surrounding college athletes.
A Binghamton University basketball player, Calistus Anyichie, was found dead in a gorge in Buttermilk Falls State Park. Early assumption regarding cause of death is by drowning, but a full report hasn’t been completed yet.
An autopsy is expected to be performed, and authorities are investigating his death.
Anyichie, who was just a rising sophomore, averaged 1.9 points and 2.1 rebounds per game last season.
Anyichie was also an exceptional student, being recognized as one of New Jersey’s top “student-athletes” while still in high school.
Anyichie will be missed greatly by his family, teammates, and coaches.
We send our condolences to the family of Calistus Anyichie during this difficult time.
