MLB has decided to suspend Odubel Herrera for the rest of the season after he violated the domestic abuse policy. Odubel Herrera won’t appeal his suspension.
Herrera was arrested in May after he allegedly struck his girlfriend at the Golden Nugget casino hotel in Atlantic City. His girlfriend had injuries to her arms and neck. MLB place Herrera on administrative leave to investigate the incident.
On Wednesday his girlfriend decided to drop all charges on Herrera against him after the assault. The judge ordered Herrera to get counseling within the 60 days.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred released the following statement “My office has completed its investigation into the allegations that Odúbel Herrera violated Major League Baseball’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. Having reviewed all of the available evidence, I have concluded that Mr. Herrera violated the Policy and should be subject to discipline in the form of an unpaid suspension that will cover the remainder of the 2019 season.”
Odubel Herrera will missed out on half of his $5 million dollar in salary this season.
