Stevie Wonder will be taking a hiatus from music in preparation of a kidney transplant scheduled for September.
The legendary icon shared the news with his fans during a London concert Saturday. The announcement arrives in the midst of a report from The Detroit Free Press that Wonder had been battling “a serious but manageable health issue” and was touring with a medical team.
Stevie had this to say in regards to his plans to go on hiatus to focus on his upcoming surgery.
“So what’s gonna happen is this: I’m going to have surgery. I’m going to have a kidney transplant in September of this year
He then told fans all is well with him.
“I’m all good, I’m all good, I’m all good. I have a donor, it’s all good. I want you to know, I came here to give you my love and to thank you for your love.”
Wishing Stevie a full and speedy recovery as he prepares for surgery.
