Chris Haynes and Yahoo Sports are reporting that the Los Angeles Lakers are heading into the 2019-20 season intending to use LeBron James as their starting point guard.
LeBron has always been the floor general no matter what team he was on, but at the age of 34 and entering the 17th season of his career, he will be the Lakers starting point guard. The Lakers are trying to take advantage of their new look roster that has one goal of winning a championship. LeBron has always considered himself a playmaker over a pure scorer, so the position change shouldn’t be too difficult.
After trading Lonzo Ball to New Orleans to acquire Anthony Davis, the Lakers are going into the season with Rajon Rondo, Quinn Cook and Alex Caruso as their only other point guards. With LeBron at Point a potential starting lineup could be LeBron- Danny Green – Kyle Kuzma – Anthony Davis – DeMarcus Cousins.
LeBron has avaeraged 7.2 assists for his career, so maybe LeBron should have been running the point this whole time.
