Carmelo Anthony sat down with Stephen A. Smith today on First Take, and he aired out what has gone wrong in his NBA career the past few years.
Melo was last seen on an NBA court wearing a Rockets jersey even though his time there was very short. Anthony blamed reasons far deeper than basketball for why things went bad quickly with the Rockets. Melo was told his services were no longer needed and he was shocked at the time. He responded:
“You mean to tell me I can’t make a 9-10 man rotation? That’s deeper than basketball.”
This was pretty honest interview from Carmelo today. He even talked about his decision to sign with the New York Knicks in 2010. His original plan was to sign with the Chicago Bulls instead and team up with prime Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Luol Deng. Crazy to think how his career would’ve turned out if he went with the Bulls over the Knicks, would we be having this conversation today.
Carmelo Anthony is an NCAA Champion, 10-time NBA All-Star, 6-time All-NBA and an Olympic gold medal winner. Today he was on ESPN basically begging for a shot to get back in the league, and that’s sad to see. What’s your opinion on Carmelo Anthony does he deserve another shot or should he just ride off into the sunset?
