LeBron James wants to have ‘Taco Tuesday’ all to himself, literally.
According to Josh Gerben of Gerben Law Firm, a LeBron James owned company filed trademark for ‘Taco Tuesday’ on August 15th.
If the trademark is approved, which could take up to four months for the government to approve, James would use the trademark for advertising, social media, podcasts, etc.
According to Gerben if the trademark is approved it additionally would not allow other online shows or podcasts to utilize the ‘Taco Tuesday’ phrase.
James’s Taco Tuesday social media posts have become extremely popular in recent weeks and months and it appears that James is attempting to capitalize on them monetarily.
The chances of the trademark getting approved could hit a snag as according to Gerben, Taco John’s, a popular Mexican food chain, has had trademark on Taco Tuesday since 1989.
So James may want to consult Taco John’s about the use of the phrase before it gets too far.
