Jay Z has everyone’s attention after the NFL announced a business partnership with his Roc Nation label. This consists of managing entertainment events and working on addressing social justice issues. Today, it was also announced that Hov is looking into becoming a part owner of a team in the near future.
Known activist Shaun King highly disapproved of Hov inking the deal with the NFL as he took to his Instagram page to bash him for it as he said it will be discussed on his podcast. King says if a workplace banned his friend for three years, (in reference to Colin Kaepernick) he couldn’t be friends with them. He also criticized Jay for having this deal in the works over the past year as he met with the NFL on many occasions.
King concluded by saying Hov looks like he’s besties with the NFL and it doesn’t look good since he talked to Kaepernick repeatedly during that span. He thinks Jay knows this deal is shady and wrong. What’s even more interesting about this post by King is that Rihanna liked it. This points to her likely agreeing with this entire take and isn’t feeling Jay for this move.
This is very awkward considering the fact that Rihanna is signed to Roc Nation as well. It’s crazy that many people forgot that Jay refused to perform at the Super Bowl last year in support of Kaepernick. If he becomes a team owner, hopefully he can sign Kaep. Kaep shouldn’t be punished for standing up for what’s right.
