WBO super bantamweight champion Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete (27-1, 23 KOs) will defend his belt against unbeaten Francisco de Vaca (20-0, 6 KOs) this Saturday on ESPN.
Emanuel Navarrette was a candidate for upset of the year in 2018 when he beat the hyped-up Isaac Dogboe by unanimous decision. After this upset, Isaac Dogboe asked for a rematch, saying that he was ready to “set the record straight” and win his belt back. Navarrete walked into the rematch and again proved that he was the better boxer, defeating Dogboe, this time by TKO in Round 12 to retain his WBO junior featherweight world title/
Emanuel Navarrette is 24 years old, stands at 5’7 with a 72” reach. He has a record of 27 wins and 1 solitary loss, with 23 of his wins coming by way of knockout. His single loss came in 2012 when he was 17 years old, versus the then 4-0 Daniel Argueta.
Francisco De Vaca is also 24 years old also 5’7 but with a reach of 65 ½”. De Vaca has 20 wins and 0 losses, with 6 knockouts. De Vaca has one other fight in 2019, and that was a unanimous decision win versus Ernesto Guerrero. De Vaca was set to fight Isaac Dogboe, but had to pull out due to trainer related issues. Not only will this be De Vaca’s first title shot, it will be his first 12 round fight.
Emannuel Navarrette is tired of looking back at the Dogboe bouts, and is ready to move forward, unifying the belts at 122 and then moving up in weight to do some damage at 126. But first, he has got to get through unbeaten Francisco De Vaca. The fight will take place at the Banc of California Stadium, and will be the first time the year old stadium hosts a boxing match. It can be watched on ESPN at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time/7:00 p.m. Pacific.
