I think winning a ring is very important if you are in the upper echelon of NBA royalty.
If you are a bit below that, I don’t think anyone really cares as much, but if you are on all-NBA teams the thing that separates you are the rings.
John Wall is a former #1 overall pick, so if he doesn’t start building at least a playoff resume, while he wouldn’t be seen as a bust, his legacy will be of a very good, not great player.
