The coveted Rookie of the Year award is up for grabs again in the NBA. Did you make your prediction yet? If you ask around the league, many are hoping for RJ Barrett to win. His fellow teammate Dennis Smith Jr shares how he wants to help make that happen.
When you see stories such as wanting to help another teammate, it makes you smile because at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. Names from Wilt Chamberlain to Vince Carter have won this amazing award.
Dennis Smith Jr got a taste of what the Knicks culture is truly about and this upcoming season will be different. Entering into his third year, he knows a thing or two of what it feels like to be a rookie. Deep and perhaps buried in RJ Barrett’s mind is the Rookie of the Year award. Here’s what Smith Jr had to say about how he can offer assistance.
“I’m treating that as one of my focal points just to help him win Rookie of the Year. And whatever I can do, I’m willing to do it,” Smith Jr. said in an interview with Chris Henderson. “It’s important for us and it’s important for our team and it’s important for our morale moving forward, so I think it would be major if he won that.”
That clearly demonstrates a positive attitude and a leader mentality. There’s lots to look forward to with all these new faces in the mix.
