The Calgary Flames General Manager, Brad Treliving, announced that coach Bill Peters is still part of the team, which is bad news for some. Because he is under investigation for dropping the n-word toward a former player.
The Flames manager said in his explanation that the team would “take the matter with extreme seriousness.” Sportsnet, a sports network in Canada, had falsely reported that coach Peters had been fired on Tuesday. The team practiced on Tuesday but the coach was told to stay back at the team hotel, while assistant coach Geoff Ward took over the duties.
The allegations were brought to light by Akim Aliu, he played for Bill Peters in 2009-10 for the Rockford IceHogs, they are the AHL team for the Chicago Blackhawks. Aliu posted some tweets to talk about the incident.
