With the 2019 season going on, we’ll be checking our fantasy teams, speculating on whether the New England Patriots will win another Super Bowl and waiting to see which players and teams will be dominant.
Here are some stories, on and off the pitch, that maybe what we should expect from the 2019 NFL season.
Breakthrough players
No player had higher expectations in this season than Baker Mayfield, who threw 27 touches of the ball like a rookie last year and helped Cleveland Browns improve from (yike) 0-16 to 7- 8-1. Fans were excited when coach Freddie K Kitchen, who seemed to unlock Mayfield when he took over in the middle of the summer, would have a full year with the team. Many even talk about playoffs for Brown, usually woebegone. Does Mayfield have anyone to throw in? How about Odell Beckham Jr., acquired from the Commerce of Giants?
As usual, a few midfield positions are likely to take the hot seat, with young people ready to take over with any mistakes. Eli Manning was the main man of the Giants, forever, but the team used their draft total selection of 6, surprisingly, on Daniel Jones.
Miami Dolphins chose to start 36-year-old Ryan Fitzpatrick, but the team is expected to be terrible and newly acquired 22-year-old Josh Rosen could take over soon. Case Keenum is already an NFL Survivor and has played for five teams in five seasons. This season brings No. 6 squad, Washington Redskins. But how long before they move to their first round selection, Dwayne Haskins?
Betting
More and more US jurisdictions have legalized sports betting. Besides New Jersey, Mississippi, West Virginia, etc., NFL Betting in Pennsylvania is now also available.
When the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles are set to kick off the new American football season, a lot of eyes will be on the statewide betting action.
At least five companies will bet mobile in New Jersey by gametime – including DraftKings, FanDuel, William Hill, MGM Resorts International and Rush Stre,et Interactive – providing a glimpse of the future potential of the betting market.
“The upcoming American football season and the launch of the first mobile sports in New Jersey are just the first steps in building a business from three to five years,” said Christian Stuart, vice president of Caesars game and entertainment operations. It will take time to be aware of products to keep customers away from illegal markets.
Bet companies are likely to enter the New Jersey market in the coming months when other companies return to action. Nearly 20 online operators could do business in New Jersey later this year, according to a report this week by industry analysts Eilers & Krejcik.
New Jersey is focusing because it is the largest state by population among sports betting providers. Also, it is located a short distance from the nation’s largest city, New York. Only New Jersey and Nevada currently offer online sports betting.
All in all, let’s expect a great NFL season ahead!
