At the end of 2019, Gabrielle Union was let go by “America’s Got Talent” after she reportedly called out the show for multiple incidents of racism and sexism. This brought a lot of criticism to the show as many felt that this move admitted their guilt.
Terry Crews appeared on TODAY as he was asked about the situation involving America’s Got Talent and Union. Crews, who has appeared on the show before with Union, said he has seen so signs of racism there. He added that the top 10 acts made up such a diverse lineup and that it was the most diverse place he was part of in 25 years.
Crews also made sure to say that he can’t speak on sexism since he’s not a woman. He explained how his wife told him that Union hasn’t spoken on this publicly so why should he. The allegations supposedly came from an unnamed source so Crews felt that listening to the women affected (Union) was the best route to go.
Social media caught wind of Crews’ comments as they believe that Crews was wrong for not having Union’s back. They have every reason to feel this way. She has since spoken on Twitter regarding the incident by saying that multiple witnesses came forward in support of her to prove that she wasn’t lying. He definitely should’ve had her back in this situation considering the fact that they’ve worked together on the show and for the fact that these are very serious allegations.
