33-year-old Kell Brook has a career that he can be proud of. He came to the United States and took the IBF welterweight title from Shawn Porter, and then held that title from 2014-2017. He has a record of 38-2, with his two losses coming back to back to Gennadiy Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr. in 2016 and 2017. Since then, Brook has had two wins in 2018, versus Siarhei Rabchanka and Michael Zerafa, but then took 2019 off. Brook got a second-round stoppage versus Rabchanka but had a difficult time versus Michael Zerafa, whom many thought Brook would run over.
In his prime, Kell Brook was a very good fighter, but his losses to the much larger Golovkin, where he broke his right eye socket, and then the very tough fight versus Spence, where he broke his left eye socket, really seemed to take years off of his career. Brook hasn’t looked like quite the same fighter since.
But he’s getting back in the ring this weekend, looking to prove that there is still some fight left in him. Kell Brook makes his return versus Mark DeLuca on Saturday, February 8, at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield.
DeLuca has a record of 24-1, with his sole loss being via split decision to Walter Wright in 2018. He avenged that loss 4 months later in an immediate rematch. He has two wins in 2019 to Jimmy Williams and Brandon Brewer, both by unanimous decision.
Kell Brook believes he’s still got something in the tank. Find out for yourself Saturday on DAZN.
