Mario Lopez, Mark Paul-Gosselaar, and Elizabeth Berkley will return to reprise their roles on the reboot of “Saved By the Bell” on NBC’s streaming platform Peacock. Someone who won’t be returning for the reboot is original, main cast member Lark Voorhies.
Voorhies played Lisa Turtle on the hit 90’s sitcom, and she appeared on Dr. Oz earlier this week to discuss being left out of the Saved By the Bell reboot and mental health.
Voorhies discussed how she felt “hurt” by not being asked by her former co-stars Mario Lopez and Paul-Gosselaar, to reprise her role, as well as not being included in other Saved by the Bell” cast reunions. However, she also realizes that in the past, she hasn’t been in the best place mentally.
I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members’ events. Yet, of course, I also realized that having this puzzling disorder may have played a major part in that factual decision.”
Voorhies has struggled with mental illness in the past, but recently she has been in a good place.
Days after the airing of Voorhies Dr. Oz episode, Lopez and Paul-Gosselaar have yet to comment on Voorhies’s feeling slighted her exclusion.
Some fans, however, have weighed in and voiced their displeasure with Voorhies not being involved in the reboot.
