Dez Bryant’s NFL journey has been one of perseverance, trials and tribulations, triumphs, and now hopefully for him one of redemption.
The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, who is the franchise leader in TD receptions, is attempting to make a comeback to the NFL.
Bryant’s comeback has been much publicized with workout videos of him running routes and catching passes from Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes circulating across social media.
He has publicly displayed his desire to comeback not only to the NFL, but to play for the franchise that he loves most, the Dallas Cowboys. Bryant’s affection and affinity for the organization has never wavered even after his nasty divorce from the team back in 2018.
After suffering an Achilles tear after signing with the New Orleans Saints, Bryant was again released and left to ponder his NFL career with respect to playing football ever again. He now has had ample time to reflect, as well as recover from his injury, and is now on the comeback trail to return to an NFL that is much different than the one he left.
Bryant appears to be much more reflective and perspective about where he is in life and where football now fits. Admittedly, he acknowledges that his head wasn’t in the right space to play the game he loved. He needed time away from the game, forced or otherwise, to reflect on his journey and why this comeback means so much to him.
BSO caught up with the former ‘No.88’ (a number only reserved for the likes of Michael Irvin and Drew Pearson) as Bryant discussed his desire to play for the Cowboys and why his comeback isn’t necessarily about proving people wrong.
