First reported by Elie Seckbach, ESPN is parting ways with long time boxing reporter Dan Rafael.
Rafael wasn’t fired and it had nothing to do with the Coronavirus, but just a matter of his contract no being renewed. Rafael has been with ESPN for over 15 years and has been considered one of the most well-known boxing reporters in the industry.
Here is a statement from ESPN on his departure.
“Dan Rafael has been an important part of our boxing coverage for almost two decades and we thank him for the many contributions he made to the coverage of the sport during that time. We wish him success in his next chapter.”
Rafael should have a lot of options of what he wants to do next, so we will see where he goes from here once boxing resumes.
