When the two best players in the country meet for an exhibition game, expect buckets with less defense.
Team Sizzle was locked in during a Thursday night 78-71 win over Ypsi Prep.
Holmgren recorded 31 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks while Emoni Bates finished with 36 points and 10 rebounds. These two guys are the future of the NBA and hopefully we’ll see a college battle unless Holmgren declares for the 2022 NBA Draft.
Bates is a killer and a forward who has upside with a crafty consistent jumper. Holmgren alluded to Bates energy and why he’s No. 1 in his class as a junior.
“And that’s the best of the best, cream of the crop. He played a great game tonight, but luckily we were able to come out with the win tonight and it’s always a special experience,” Holmgren said via ESPN.
The 7-foot-1 slinky big controlled the tempo of the game scoring in the transition while sinking a deep three in Bates’s face. Holmgren attends Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis.
Credit must be given to Bates because he’s the reigning Gatorade Player of the year and is ESPN’s No. 1 prospect in the class of 2022. Holmgren remains undecided on what college he’ll commit to as ESPN’s No. 1 ranked senior in the class of 2021. Some fans on social media already started the debate and said Holmgren took Bates’s heart out while trash talking.
