Indiana Pacers small forward Justin Holiday is ready to return the hardwood on Dec. 12 against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the pre-season opener.
Holiday spoke with BSO and other media outlets on his situation after signing a three-year 18.8 million deal.
“The fans have been great to me here. So it’s not just the organization that wants me here the fans want me here.”
Holiday is the only active member on the Pacers roster with an NBA championship from 2015 with the Golden State Warriors and he spoke about head coach Nate Bjorkgren positivity.
“I’m sure you guys have all heard of how positive he is all the time. Really really an upbeat guy,” Holiday said.
“Our first conversation was about when I was in the D-league (G-League)…playing against him and coach against me. Some of the battles we had then…the good old days. Just as far as this upcoming season playing a system of basketball that caters to how I play. Him wanting me to pretty much just be me…obviously shooting the ball and guarding.”
Holiday shot 40 percent from the three-point line last season and it was his best since his 2015-16 year with the Chicago Bulls. With the return of Holiday, his ability to shoot off the dribble and knock down shots at distance is needed for this team heading into the season.
