Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker officially made it right with the people he saw deal with arrests related to marijuana.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, pardons were issued on behalf of people with low-related cannabis records.
“Statewide, Illinoisans hold hundreds of thousands low-level cannabis-related records, a burden disproportionately shouldered by communities of color,” Pritzker said in a statement.
Pritzker continued addressing the state flaws for the damage done to people who were arrested.
“We will never be able to fully remedy the depth of that damage. But we can govern with the courage to admit the mistakes of our past — and the decency to set a better path forward.”
Whoever has a record should be celebrating the ongoing expunges.
