Bill Bayno resigned as the Pacer’s assistant coach after dealing with a case of mental health. Mental health takes a toll on NBA players and it’s an odd case when it comes to men apart of the front office.
Bayno dealt with personal issues disclosed and is ready to focus on health. Therefore, Bayno will be replaced as the assistant coach with candidates soon to be announced.
Everyone needs their moment to recover and step away from something they love. Coaching the game of basketball was Bayno’s gift along with helping the Pacers improve during their struggles.
“Bayno had been on an approved leave of absence for a couple of weeks. He suffered some losses close to him in the past year, and that, combined with the stress of the pandemic and the “usual” stress of being an NBA coach, became unhealthy for him. So Banyo has decided to walk away for now,” per NBC Sports.
The NBA continues to push forward the message of mental health by bringing awareness.
