Vanderbilt and Mississippi state kicked off the College World Series Finals series last night, with Vanderbilt walking away with a lopsided win to not only take a 1-0 series lead in this best of three situation, but to also be one win away from the school’s 3rd title in the last 8 years.
But what was supposed to be a night full of competition, tension, and and passion, quickly turned into one scarred by a racial issue that shouldn’t exist ever.
According to Clinton Yates of ESPN, parents of Vanderbilt baseball players were subjected to racial slurs during the game last night.
Unfortunate situation, one that just shouldn’t be happening still.
