With the 6th pick, the Thunder select……
Jonathan Kuminga – SF G-League Ignite
I have Kuminga as the 4th best player in this draft and a for sure top pick. Some others have him as the 5th best prospect and some have him 6th. Either way, it isn’t a sure deal that he’ll be off the board at 6 for the Thunder. This, in my opinion would be the best case scenario outside of moving up. He’s one of the best defenders in the draft and has star scoring potential. His fit next to SGA and Dort would be great because he could play off the ball and be the number 1 option for the team.
Scottie Barnes – SF Florida State
Like Kuminga, some have Barnes 5th and some have him 6th. One of those guys will be there and one will likely be the pick. Barnes is a big forward who can run the offense and defend almost every position. He has decent passing ability and can stretch the floor a little but will definitely have to get better. Would also allow the Thunder to play small because he could play PF also.
Jalen Johnson – SF Duke
Jalen is one of the more intriguing prospects in this years’ draft. He got injured and didn’t finish the season at Duke and if he had any type of jump shot he would be a lock for one of the top 5 picks. He’s a Sam Presi type of guy so picking him would make sense. Most would see it as a reach though. He has a lot of skills as a slasher and is one of the top passers in this draft. He has star potential and would need a little time to grow.
Moses Moody – SF Arkansas
Moody is a guy that has been all over the place on draft boards. He’s been as high as 6th and as low as 22. Another good defender and would be a good piece next to SGA and Dort. Like Jalen Johnson, he’d need time to grow into a star. Right now, he would be a 3 and D guy and the Thunder could definitely use someone like that to space the floor.
Keon Johnson – SG Tennessee
Keon is one of the better and more explosive athletes in the draft and would add a lot of excitement to this Thunder roster. He’s also a pretty good defender and would give the team more versatility on that end of the floor. He, like Moody, would come in and be more of a 3 and D guy right now where he needs to be a better shooter but could also go and get his own shot if needed which would be.
