I am not sure if this is good or bad for Deshaun Watson.
For months, Tony Buzbee’s biggest and most high-profile case was the 22 massage accusers who have accused the Texans QB of assault. That might have to take a backburner to the massive lawsuit he just filed against Travis Scott, Drake, and Live Nation.
TMZ breaks down the lawsuit, and they are going for an astronomical amount.
Travis Scott, Drake, Apple, Live Nation and others will now need to answer to a massive $750 million lawsuit brought against them by more than 125 fans, including the family of one who died at the festival.
The suit, filed by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee, is the first of others to come and places the blame on Travis and concert organizers for negligence in failing to properly plan the concert, train security personnel and host a safe event.
Buzbee says, “No amount of money will ever make these Plaintiffs whole; no amount of money can restore human life. But, the damages sought in this case attempts to fix, help, or make up for the harms and losses suffered by these Plaintiffs — nothing more and nothing less.”
Travis and Live Nation offered refunds almost immediately to concertgoers, and the lawsuit addresses that offer, calling it, “… a transparent and grotesque effort of the Defendants to limit their liability, after the fact, to the families of those killed or injured.”
Sources close to Travis have maintained he didn’t realize the severity of what was happening in the crowd while he performed. Photos of cops taking photos and watching Travis’ show more than 25 minutes after the HFD Chief declared the concert a “mass casualty event” seem to back Scott’s claim up.
If you have ever seen the movie Erin Brockovich you know the goal is to get a massive settlement. With 125 plaintiffs, neither party would want this to go to trial, and if Travis Scott and Live Nation fought them too hard, it could have damaging effects on both of their brands.
