After hanging out with Kanye, Floyd Mayweather, and Madonna, Antonio Brown was back in Miami.
I think what that tells you is AB is bigger than football right now. There are very few players that cross over beyond football fame. The average non-football fan will not know who Keenan Allen is in the grocery store, but they are going to know Odell Beckham.
It usually is just Quarterbacks who truly become crossover celebrities very few position players do.
Besides Beckham and AB, what player beyond a QB would be immediately recognized in, say, Paris?
I don’t know what this means for AB’s future because the NFL is like the army and they don’t like when you become too big of a celebrity. When TMZ is asking you about Madonna, you have definitely crossed over.
Antonio Brown says he loves Tom Brady and has spoken to the 7x Super Bowl champ — despite questioning TB12’s friendship after he was cut by the Bucs — telling TMZ Sports Brady is a “true friend.”
We talked to AB outside Via Allora in Beverly Hills on Friday … and asked the Pro Bowl wideout about the current status of his relationship with Brady.
“Listen, I love Tom. That’s my guy. Don’t get it twisted. A lot of words were taken out of substance. Tom is one of my true friends in the midst of adversity that was there for me, so don’t get it twisted about nothing with Tom Brady.”
Antonio Brown is the type of guy you have to take what he says, take the scramble of words and make sense of it all.
I knew exactly what he meant when he was talking about Brady and friendship, but it is just easier to take a snippet and make it seem like something it wasn’t.
The AB-Kanye song seems to be coming sooner than later. I can’t wait to hear it.
