It was about time the US Marshals and the cops did their job.
Johnson, aka Straight Dropp was hiding out in Indiana, and it appears the cops got a tip that led to his arrest.
A man wanted by law enforcement for his suspected role in the shooting death of Adolph Thornton Jr., known best by the moniker Young Dolph, was located in Indiana Tuesday, U.S. Marshals announced.
“After a coordinated investigation by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, Justin Johnson was captured today around 3:00 p.m. (C.S.T.) in Indiana,” according to a U.S. Marshals release.
On Jan. 5, the U.S. Marshals Service, in conjunction with Memphis police and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, announced Johnson as a person of interest and offered up a $15,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
According to a press release issued by the U.S. Marshals Service, Johnson also has an outstanding warrant for violation of federal supervised release out of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
Johnson, another Memphis rapper with a lower profile than that of Thornton, appeared to post on his Instagram account over the weekend his intention to turn himself in to authorities, according to multiple media outlets.
Officials plan to share more information in a press conference Wednesday.
Johnson had stated he would turn himself in to cops on Monday but chose to drop a rap music video instead mocking the cops’ inability to find him.
His luck ran out today, and it is highly likely he won’t be dropping any new music any time soon after his arrest.
Beyond the murder of Dolph, he is going to be hit with numerous other charges, which likely guarantee he spends the rest of his life in jail.
