One of the things people are having a hard time with is why Ime Udoka was suspended for the season for a consensual work affair and why if it was consensual, the woman wasn’t suspended as well.
Shams explained one of the reasons.
The Celtics have suspended coach Ime Udoka for the entirety of the 2022-23 season for violations of team policies, the franchise announced Thursday. The team added in a statement that “a decision about his future with the Celtics beyond this season will be made at a later date.”
The second-year coach’s punishment is a result of an intimate relationship with a female member of the organization, as The Athletic first reported Thursday morning.
Some members of the Celtics organization first became aware of the relationship in July, sources said. At that time, team leadership was led to believe by both parties that the relationship was consensual. But sources said that the woman recently accused Udoka of making unwanted comments toward her — leading the team to launch a set of internal interviews.
The second reason, as I explain in the video below, was much deeper than just one consensual affair.
If it were just one consensual affair, we would have never even known what was happening.
The Celtics are trying to keep a lid on all of this and hoping no lawsuits are filed. If that happens, all of the dirty laundry will be released.
If the major networks leak these other violations, you will have your answer in the next few days. If you don’t hear anything by the middle of next week, the Celtics successfully plugged any leaks that were potentially going to come out.
Regarding Nia Long, she released a statement but hasn’t stated if she plans on leaving Udoka or not. They aren’t married, so she could walk away and take him to court for child support if she decides to go that route.
