One of the dumbest things rappers do is talk about their actual crimes in their songs.
Rapper Nuke Bizzle is finding out just how dumb it is.
In his song “EDD” Bizzle talked about scamming the California Employment Development Department during the COVID 19 pandemic. He says he got rich off of EDD, and that has now earned him some time in jail, according to VladTV
On Wednesday, Nuke Bizzle’s 2020 caught up to him as the 33-year-old was sentenced to over six years in prison for illegally acquiring over $700,000 in pandemic unemployment benefits from July 2020 to September 2020. In addition to his sentence, Nuke Bizzle (real name Fontrell Antonio Baines) was ordered to pay $704,760 in restitution.
The rapper, who’s originally from Memphis, Tennessee, used identity theft victims to submit false applications. The phony paperwork included false work histories and addresses in Beverly Hills and Koreatown. Baines obtained pre-loaded debit cards totaling $704,760 after submitting 92 fraudulent claims.
Baines’ legal troubles didn’t stop there, as the rapper faced additional charges outside of the EDD case. He was charged with illegally possessing a semi-automatic pistol. Before his sentencing, Baines pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud and possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute.
Hopefully, rappers will see this, smarten up, and stop talking about their crimes.
Come on NUKE BIZZLE.
Did you think NO ONE would notice this?
You made a WHOLE DAMN MUSIC VIDEO about your scam, 2020 is making my head hurt.
The unemployment debit cards were issued in the names of third-parties, including identity theft victims, prosecutors said. They said the cards were sent to addresses to which Baines had access in Beverly Hills and the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The schemers allegedly accessed more than $704,000 of that money through cash withdrawals, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.
Lord have mercy.
The song is FIRE though.
Flip the page for the EDD song it is a banger.
