Aaron Rodgers’s time in Green Bay is reportedly over, and he will be looking for a new home as soon as NFL free agency hits.
Rumors have already started to fly around on where he will end up. Instead, it’s with the Raiders, 49ers, Jets, or even the Colts. Or maybe even a return to the Packers.
No one is sure what Rodgers will decide or when that decision will come, but ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler thinks that the two teams that could be the front runners are the Colts and Jets.
“That receiving corps is really talented and you know the defense is good. They have pieces and are trending up. They should be desperate to get a QB in my opinion.” Fowler on the possibility of Rodgers in New York.
“[Indianapolis general manager Chris] Ballard has to get one [a quarterback] and get it right. Maybe they just draft one and save the money, but Rodgers would be different than their other past stopgap options because he’s more of a sure thing.”
It’s going to be an exciting off-season. Not just for Rodgers and the Packers but the rest of the NFL also because he could cause a ripple effect and change the landscape for many teams.
It would be ironic if Rodgers left the Packers for the Jets because that is the same thing Brett Favre did. It didn’t work out too well for Favre (he would go on to have more success with the Vikings). There is no question that Rodgers still has something left in the tank, but would the Jets be the right place for him?
I don’t see him going to Colts. You can call that a gut feeling, but I don’t think that is happening, but I could be wrong.
