Here Are The Potential Landing Spots For Ezekiel Elliot After He Was Released By The Cowboys

The Cowboys made a bit of a shocker Wednesday afternoon after they announced they were releasing RB Ezekiel Elliot.

It was reported that they could release him if they couldn’t find a trade partner, and it looks like they couldn’t. By releasing the former pro bowler and designating him as a post-June 1st cut, the Cowboys will save $10.9 million in cap space with only $5.8 million in dead money. Zeke spent seven seasons with the Cowboys and ranks 3rd in rushing yards and rushing TDs with the franchise, but now he will need a new home.

Zeke will be 28 when the new season starts, and he still has some value at the right price. Not surprisingly, a few teams could use him as the featured RB or a highly used RB2.

One of those teams could be the Bengals, who recently lost Semaje Perine to the Broncos. He’d likely fill the Perine role in the Bengals’ offense and get plenty of touches. Another team is the Texans, who were 31st in rushing yards per game, rushing TDs, and yards per carry. He would have to compete with Damion Pierce, but he probably feels like he could beat him for the number one spot. The Bills have been looking for a featured back for a while, and could Zeke be the missing piece to their high-powered offense?

Zeke could fit with a couple of other teams: the Bucs and the Rams. Both teams are in desperate need of a featured RB.

The big question is how much Zeke has left in the tank and how much money he wants. He has been injured for the last two years. Is he even healthy enough to play at an elite level anymore?

Only one way to find out. Stay tuned
