Ex-Clemson QB Kelly Bryant Signs With XFL’s Arlington Renegades After He Tried Out For The WWE

Things haven’t gone exactly as planned for former Clemson QB Kelly Bryant.

He had a pretty decent Jr. season at Clemson where he led them to a Playoff appearance in the Sugar Bowl and it looked like he was going to be the starter and try and lead them to a National Championship his Sr. year.

Insert Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence had other plans because Bryant had a slow start to his Sr. season and Lawrence was just waiting for his time. After 4 games, head coach Dabo Sweeney decided to make the change at QB and once Trevor Lawrence had the spot he didn’t give it back. Clemson went on to win a National Championship that year and after the season Bryant transferred to Missouri.

After that, he went undrafted and signed in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts but never played before getting released. Since then he’s played in the Fan Controlled Football League.

It was silent on the Kelly Bryant front for a while then last week it was reported that he was going to be part of a crop of 50 former college and pro athletes that would get a WWE tryout but he didn’t take that because he signed a deal with the XFL. The league announced that he would be signing with the Arlington Renegades on Monday.

Hopefully, everything works out for him.
