There is a short and long answers to this question.
The short answer is no.
The reason is that boxing is a global sport, not just an American sport, and fighters like Canelo Alvarez, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua can sell out stadiums and consistently bring in millions of global PPV buys across the world, are still considered the face of boxing.
Even in the States, one can argue that Canelo Alvarez is still the most recognizable boxer in North America. Canelo was able to get almost 80k people in Cowboys Stadium to watch him fight Billy Joe Saunders, and he is about to have close to 60k people in Mexico to watch him fight John Ryder. He is pulling those types of numbers by himself.
That said, Gervonta Davis is one of the faces of boxing and is rising quickly. He can thank Ryan Garcia for bringing in a whole new audience for him. That is what happens when you make good fights, your fanbase increases.
If Davis wants to be the true face of boxing, there are things he will have to do to make it happen. He can no longer fight opponents where the outcome is predetermined. Once you have a megafight, it is a step back to fight the Rolly Romeros of the world.

Tank is in the perfect weight division to continue to have massive fights. Davis campaigns between 135-140 and thinks of the talent sitting right before him.
Devin Haney, Lomanchenko, Shakur Stevenson, Teofimo Lopez, Josh Taylor, Jose Ramirez, Regis Prograis, and more. If Tank can go on a run of beating these high-level opponents, he will be the face of boxing, but he has to want it. You can’t call yourself the face of boxing just because you beat Ryan Garcia, who has never beaten a world champion or even had a belt.
That was just a stepping stone, not the final destination.
All the previous faces of boxing had several things in common. Besides being the money men of boxing, they produced megafights and fought world champions. Floyd Mayweather fought something like 15 world champions in a row. That is how you become the face of boxing. Manny Pacquiao won titles in eight divisions. That is how you become the face of boxing.
That goes back to the roots of boxing.
Davis has an opportunity to be that GUY, but he has to want it and stay out of trouble. Ryan did him a favor and has kickstarted his rise to the top, but the rest is on Tank.
