The Jets finally made it happen and traded for Aaron Rodgers.
It took a lot to get him but they got him.
They got a lot of criticism for just how much it took to get him considering it took swapping their 2023 1st round pick, their 2nd round pick in this year’s draft, and a 2024 conditional 2nd round pick that turns into a 1st round pick if Rodgers plays 65% of the games which he most likely will.
None of this will really matter if the Jets are good though and GM Joe Douglas defended his decision in a press conference on Tuesday.
“I mean, obviously, we’re comfortable with how this deal is shaped,” Douglas said. “I don’t think anyone ever walks away from a negotiation where you feel like you won everything in terms of what’s going back and forth. But ultimately our goal from the beginning was to add Aaron to the team and so we were able to get that agreed to and [we’re] just excited (to) get him here.”
It did take a lot to get Rodgers but if he can turn their offense around with a defense that has showed a lot of promise they could become legit threats to win the division.
