YNW Melly‘s double murder trial is coming to an end, and not surprisingly, the prosecution is discovering more awkward videos prior to his arrest.
One of the defense’s strong cases was that YNW Melly turned himself in willingly to law enforcement after he was charged with the murder of his two best friends in order to help find the real killers. However, the prosecution just discovered a video of YNW hiding in a suitcase to evade capture, only to turn himself in a few minutes later. According to the defense, the whole turning himself in claim is a sham.

A bizarre video of YNW Melly was shown in court this week, where the rapper appears to be hiding in a suitcase while speaking about turning himself over to police. He can be heard saying, “My name is Melly, and I’m going to turn myself in. But I’m in a suitcase because these crackers are arresting me, and I want to get on a private jet so they don’t see me.”
Prosecutors played the self-recorded clip to the courtroom earlier this week, but it was noted that it was not shown to jurors. The video was reportedly the last footage recorded on a phone that has been linked to YNW Melly in his double-murder trial.
The prosecution’s final two witnesses took the stand this week and there was a forced hold on the trial after YNW Melly’s lawyer Raven Ramona Liberty got sick during Wednesday’s (July 12) lunch break. The trial is expected to resume on Monday.
Melly’s chances of going free after this trial are slim, however, he faces life imprisonment or even death if found guilty, so the prosecution has to equally do a good job proving their case to convict him.
