Javontha Murphy’s body was found at the shore of the Malibu River stuffed in a barrel, and police began connecting the dots in the mysterious crime. Rapper Javontha Murphy’s brutal murder is now being linked to that Pope Smoke‘s death back in 2020.
While Javonta was not connected to Pope’s death, his brother Jaquan Murphy was accused of the murder. Hence, the police believe the brutal murder of Javontas was a revenge killing, even though he isn’t directly connected to the alleged crime.
Police are investigating the connection between the murder of rapper Pop Smoke and a dead body recently found in a barrel on a Malibu beach.
The barrel found on the Malibu beach contained the naked body of Javonta Murphy and reportedly washed ashore on July 31, 2023. According to police, Javonta Murphy is the brother of Jaquan Murphy, a man arrested following the murder of Pop Smoke in 2020.
Murphy was one of five arrested for the Brooklyn rapper’s murder and was charged with attempted murder. However, Murphy was cleared but is now facing a trial for another murder in L.A. County unrelated to Pop. Investigators from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department are looking into Javonta Murphy’s death allegedly being a retaliation murder for the death of Pop Smoke.
Mob justice and insane acts like these are what are causing the black community to fall behind. So now, Javonta’s gang may go looking for justice for their friend and kill another person.
