When asked if he would choose Robert Horry’s $54 million and seven rings over James Harden’s $300 million, Gilbert Arenas remained candid.
The former NBA player Gil’s Arena discussed how he would handle the substantial compensation on his show. The NBA fans’ outrage over money and championships has led to this. Despite the fact that Harden is unquestionably a world-class athlete and earns a fortune, he is trophy-less.
“James Harden, $300 million… no ring, or would you take Robert Horry, $56 million with six rings? Seven championships, and he made $54 million which clearly tells you he was never a main guy. Like Steph, his money matches his winning as the main player, right, so just because you have five rings and you won, you didn’t win off the back of you.”
One of the more significant role players of his day was Horry. With $54 million, he may not have made much money, but for NBA players, the ideal balance between money and rings is always in the middle.
Gilbert Arenas claims he received the $64 million contract after outscoring Michael Jordan by 41 points.
Arenas claimed that his 41-point effort against Jordan got him the lucrative six-year, $64 million contract when he mentioned the Washington Wizards’ offer to him earlier in the interview.
“I gave that f***er 41. I think me and Antawn [Jamison] still hold the record for a duo to score the most points against the Wizards. I did 41, he had 39. Larry [Hughes] was there. That’s what got me paid, they’ve seen what I did to MJ.”
Arenas, who was a member of the Golden State Warriors, won the match, which prompted the Wizards to overhaul the NBA in the summer of 2003. The ‘Arenas Rule,’ which permits second-round picks to be re-signed by a franchise if they maintain their cap hold on their books, was also added by the league as a result of this deal. The acquiring team, however, has a much higher maximum contract offer than the incumbent party. They are able to resign them thanks to this clause. All things considered, Arenas had a successful career while he was a player.
