Oleksandr Usyk successfully defended his heavyweight titles against Daniel Dubois via 9th-round stoppage. However, the Ukranian boxer suffered sheer adversities during the fight.
Dubois struck a body shot on Oleksandr Usyk, which several people, including the referee, deemed to be a low bow. Usyk instantly went down in pain and took almost five minutes for a complete recovery.
If it wasn’t ruled to be a low blow, Daniel Dubois would have stopped Oleksandr Usyk in the fifth round. Nevertheless, several fans criticized the outcome and cited Usyk’s win to be a robbery.
In the post-fight presser, Oleksandr Usyk welcomed a potential rematch with ‘Dynamite’ but didn’t seem very serious about it.
Usyk said, “I am ready to fight tomorrow, the rematch, a street fight, I am ready.”

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Dubois had an unsuccessful doesn’t attempt at the world title as he suffered his second career defeat. A rematch clause doesn’t seem to be on the table for him and he shall need to work his way up to the world title shot again.
Oleksandr Usyk shall now wait and see how Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou turns out on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi. Although Fury’s WBC world title won’t be at stake, his performance would reflect a lot on what Usyk can do against him.
Following that fight, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury can square off to determine the next undisputed heavyweight champion in the 4-belt era after Lennox Lewis. It remains to be seen whether Usyk or Fury can succeed the ‘Lion’.
