Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, the former fiancée of the late NFL player Aaron Hernandez, has launched a podcast called “Unscripted,” using social media to describe it as a space for unfiltered conversations about truth, growth, motherhood and topics many people avoid.
Jenkins-Hernandez, who shares daughter Avielle with Hernandez and has a second daughter, Giselle, announced the project through her Instagram account @shayjhernandez. In a post Monday, she wrote: “Unscripted. Unfiltered. Unapologetically me. 🎙️✨ This isn’t just a podcast … it’s truth, growth, motherhood, and everything in between. The conversations we avoid … we’re having them. The stories we hide … we’re telling them. Welcome to a space where real lives louder than perfection.”
An earlier reel from March 8 promoted the show with the tagline “No script. No pretending. Just real life,” noting that some episodes feature her “two favorite co-hosts,” believed to be her daughters. A subsequent post referenced Episode 3, which discusses teenage pressure and expectations.
Jenkins-Hernandez, a licensed insurance broker, has kept a relatively low public profile since Hernandez’s death. The former New England Patriots tight end was convicted in 2015 of first-degree murder in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, a friend of Jenkins-Hernandez’s sister. Hernandez was found dead in his Massachusetts prison cell in April 2017; authorities ruled the death a suicide. The couple, who met as high school sweethearts in Bristol, Conn., became engaged in 2012 and had Avielle the following year. They never married.
She previously spoke publicly in a 2017 “Dr. Phil” interview and a 2020 ABC News appearance tied to the Netflix docuseries “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez.” Jenkins-Hernandez has also addressed the case during Hernandez’s high-profile trials and in connection with FX’s 2024 limited series “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez.”
No details were immediately available on podcast platforms or a full release schedule. Jenkins-Hernandez has not commented further on her plans for the show beyond the Instagram posts.
