Delonte West is finally here to put the wild gossip and rumor about whether he had a thing with LeBron James’ mom or not to rest even though he has over the years denied ever having a romantic affair with James’ mom, Gloria James. It’s one of those rumors that went viral and wild in 2010 but according to Delonte, he never had relations with LeBron’s mom as it was speculated.
But what’s wrong if he had a thing with LeBron’s mom? For Christ’s sake, they were and are still adults who take decisions for themselves so what’s the big deal if he had got Gloria laid?
In 2010, the world was captivated by an NBA off-season that would become known as the “Summer of LeBron.” That July, the three best players from the 2003 NBA Draft Class all chose to take their talents to Miami, forming the villainous “Heatles.” Unlike Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, Lebron James decided to broadcast his career move with a nationally televised broadcast on ESPN called The Decision.
The news of LeBron’s departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers to South Beach ignited a wave of criticism and ridicule unparalleled by an American athlete until six years later when Colin Kaepernick took a knee in the San Francisco 49ers’ pre-season game on September 1st.
In addition to being accused of quitting in game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals by Cleveland Cavs fans, naysayers also started to poke fun at the gossip surrounding LeBron, his mother, Gloria, and his former teammate on the Cavs, Delonte West. Thus, a highly contested rumor began about a possible romantic relationship between Delonte West and Gloria James.
Although Delonte has denied the allegations over the years, the story has become somewhat of a myth amongst NBA fans. The retired combo guard was recently spotted in front of a 7-Eleven, where he was asked about his alleged affair with LeBron’s mom.
The NBA is full of wild rumors which are mostly untrue, but as it is said, there’s an iota of truth in every rumor so yes, even though a lot of these rumors turn out to be false, the few ones got an iota of truth in there.
