Cowboys Looking to Trade for Saquan Barkley

Two teams in the same division don’t commonly make major trades, primarily because one team wants to keep a former player for a very long time.

The Dallas Cowboys are having a great 2023 season and will undoubtedly rank among the best teams at the conclusion of the regular season. However, the Giants’ plans to improve upon their playoff run and victory from the previous season have backfired in 2023.

A major move has been recommended by one NFL analyst ahead of next week’s deadline. On the most recent edition of First Things First, Nick Wright of Fox Sports 1 stated that the Dallas Cowboys ought to acquire Giants star running back Saquon Barkley by trade.

“If I were Dallas, I would try to make a dramatic move. I would call up the Giants about Saquon,” Wright said.

That strategy against their most vilified foe would never be executed by the Giants.

Running back Saquon Barkley has expressed his desire to continue with the Giants, and the team has given him assurances that he will.

On Wednesday, head coach Brian Daboll informed the media that Barkley would not be dealt: “That isn’t taking place.”

In the midst of widespread rumors that the former Pro Bowler would be traded before the October 31 deadline, Daboll stated that he personally told Barkley last week of the team’s intentions to retain him.

Notably, the former first-round selection pick this summer was unable to reach an agreement on a long-term deal with the Giants. In July, he consented to an amended one-year contract. After the 2023 season, he is expected to become a free agency for the second consecutive summer.
