Most football fans are aware with the tale of former tackle Michael Oher, whose story was made into a book and a 2009 feature film titled The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock. Oher recently made waves when he disclosed that, despite the book and movie making millions of dollars in revenue, he received zero money from either.
On the other hand, Michael’s legal guardians, Sean and Leigh Ann Touhy, assert in court filings that Michael did, in fact, receive $138,000.

While $138,000 may seem like a good payout to most, you can understand why Oher might feel entitled to a larger share of the pie given that the movie made over $300 million at the box office in addition to the money from the book sales.
Oher won Super Bowl XLVII with the Baltimore Ravens, a team that selected him in the first round in 2009. Before playing for the Titans and Panthers for three more seasons, he played with the Ravens for the first five seasons of his career.
Hopefully, Oher won’t experience financial hardship like many players do once their playing careers end. During his NFL career, the offensive tackle earned a salary of more than $34 million.
