Draymond Green Says Him Punching Jordan Poole Was The Same as Bam Adebayo Punching Tyler Herro

Intense moment in a basketball game as a Heat player (#40) falls to the floor amid a multi-player scramble near the paint with Bucks and Pelicans players involved in the clash.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green on Sunday drew parallels between a reported offseason altercation involving former Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro and his own 2022 punch of then-teammate Jordan Poole, questioning whether Heat legend Udonis Haslem will apply consistent standards.

Green addressed the topic on his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” shortly after reports emerged of a physical confrontation between Adebayo and Herro on July 10 at a Las Vegas gym. According to accounts, the incident stemmed from lingering tensions following Herro’s trade from the Heat to the Milwaukee Bucks in June as part of a deal centered on acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo. Leaked Instagram direct messages reportedly showed Herro criticizing Adebayo’s defense, contract and playoff performance.

“I’m not one to sit and judge like, ‘Oh man, these guys got into a fight.’ It is what it is,” Green said. He noted the situation differed because Adebayo and Herro “aren’t teammates anymore,” unlike his own on-court practice incident with Poole.

Green specifically called out Haslem, a longtime Heat player, coach and culture figure who had been vocal in criticizing Green’s punch of Poole.

“The one thing that I really started to wonder about was, I remember when I got into it with Jordan Poole the one person who was really really really outspoken about this and it really bothered me was Udonis Haslem,” Green said. He recalled Haslem saying it was “ridiculous” to fight with a younger teammate.

Green referenced past instances of Haslem clashing with younger Heat players, including Jimmy Butler, and questioned the consistency.

“If you raised this young guy in the light of what you was saying about me, and now he punches this other young guy that y’all kind of co-raised, are you going to have that same energy?” Green asked. He described Herro, like Poole a Milwaukee native known for bravado, as someone who “probably said some very disrespectful things.”

The NBA has not commented on potential discipline for the Adebayo-Herro incident, which occurred in the offseason with no video publicly available. No punishment is widely expected.

Green emphasized his support for Adebayo, calling him a “brother” and “partner,” while framing the exchange as part of basketball’s competitive realities rather than a scandal.

The comments add another layer to the long-running discourse around Green’s on-court conduct and league-wide standards for player altercations. Haslem has not publicly responded as of Sunday afternoon.

Green’s remarks come as he continues his role as a veteran voice — and occasional lightning rod — for the Warriors amid ongoing roster transitions. Adebayo remains a cornerstone for the Heat, while Herro begins a new chapter in Milwaukee.
