UFC CEO Dana White has desired to set foot in the boxing business for a long time. It is also reported that White actually comes from a boxing background and wanted to get into the business before forming the UFC.
While UFC has now become a billion-dollar company and one of the biggest sports leagues in the world, Dana White has no interest in getting aligned with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions. 92-year-old Bob Arum has been leading the Top Rank Promotions ever since.
From promoting Muhammad Ali, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather to Naoya Inoue and many others, Arum has done his part in the sport and seems to be expecting retirement soon. While Arum’s absence can urge many more promoters to fill in the void, White doesn’t seem interested.
He took to social media and ruled out the possibility of purchasing The Top Rank Promotions.
Dana White wrote on Instagram, “Absolutely positively not true. We are not buying Top Rank.”
Dana White has already issued some major plans for 2024. UFC 300, cited to be the biggest event of the promotion, shall happen in April. Meanwhile, UFC 297, UFC 298, and UFC 299 are already in process with intriguing headliners officially on board.
Besides, White has revealed his plans to open a Performance Institute in Mexico as the UFC is planning to make global expansions in the next year. Moreover, Dana White is also putting a lot of work to popularize the Power Slap.
Dana White Has Been Confident In His Own Plans
After UFC and WWE joined together to form the TKO group, they have become the business kingpin of combat sports. There are still several legitimate competitors but Dana White seems unfazed about it. Recently. UFC’s biggest competitors- PL acquired the Bellator MMA and has a brand-new roster.
However, White didn’t give them much credit. The UFC CEO seems really pleased with the progress of Power Slap, as he calls it the most popular sport on social media. While UFC has also become s grand, it remains to be seen what’s in store for us in 2024.
