On her birthday, Taylor Swift was spotted with what looks to be a large opal ring on her middle finger.
Fans think Travis Kelce sent her a really unique gift, even if the Kansas City Chiefs player was unable to attend the NYC night when her sweetie went out to party with besties Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, and more.
Rare Carat gemologist Karly Bulinski discussed the meaning of the “very sentimental” stones he gave Taylor Swift in an interview with Page Six.
The birthstones of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, opal and blue topaz, respectively, are set inside the ring, suggesting that the pair finds great sentimental importance in it.
Gem Expert’s opinion on the ring given by Travis Kelce
Bulinski estimated that the handcrafted ring costs between $10,000 and $175,000, depending on its size and craftsmanship. He told Page six,
The gem expert says the opal in Swift’s ring could be as large as 20 carats, putting the price of the custom piece in the range of $10,000.
But according to Mike Fried of The Diamond Pro, Swift’s new jewel could be worth much more. “The center stone on Taylor’s ring is massive and looks to be 15 carats. A high-quality opal of that size is incredibly rare, but not nearly as expensive as a diamond would be. I’d estimate it at around $175,000, if not more,” “Since ancient times, opals have symbolized good luck, fortune, and power — which seems to be particularly fitting for Taylor Swift.” Mike suggested the darker surrounding stones could be either tanzanite or blue zircon — both of which are also considered to be December birthstones. Tanzanite, he reportedly said, is “said to carry high energy and improve vitality.”
Opals have traditionally been associated with change, purity, and hope. This could be interpreted as a subliminal indication of the couple’s developing romance.
Swift will probably still go to his football games this year in the interim, since the Chiefs defeated the Patriots this past Sunday to snap a two-game losing run.
Swift’s record when she appears is 5-2.
